After cruising down the Sognefjord and its tributary, the Aurlandsfjord, we arrived at the village of Flam and boarded a train, The Flam Railway. This railway is reputed to provide one of the most picturesque train rides anywhere. The line is only 20 kms. long but in that distance it climbs 866 metres - almost a kilometre. There are 20 tunnels to help it make the climb. We didn't travel the whole distance. We traveled 19 kms., stopping at Vatnahalsen and and the Vatnahalsen Hotel, a ski resort in the winter.
Except for the time at the hotel the only pictures I could get were through the windows of a moving train so again, the quality suffers. I will let the scenery speak for itself.
