Bergen Norway - Wayne's Photos

Bergen was founded in 1070 and is currently the second largest city in Norway after Oslo. It was once one of the most important ports in the Hanseatic League. There is a museum of this League in Bergen. As can be seen in the first pictures, taken as we entered the port, Bergen is surrounded by mountains and is also surrounded by fjords. For first time visitors such as we were, there are two things of particular interest and these are reflected in the following photos. The first is  the  Bryggen District, comprised of the Old Wharf, and surrounding commercial buildings. The colourful buildings and the commercial buildings are of Hanseatic design which can be seen close up as there are shops throughout the area, both on the wharf side as well as inside. The second is the Fish Market.
